Software Development Fundamentals

Developers use a hundred words a day that nobody explained to you: build, deploy, dependency, staging, artifact, pipeline. This section explains that world in plain language, with the trailguide playground as the running example, and ends by showing how every one of those ideas connects to Git. It contains almost no Git commands; it is the ground the rest of the course stands on.

Before you start: nothing. If you are comfortable with terminals and Markdown, you can skim lessons 1.10 and 1.11, but read 1.7 (the developer workflow) in full.
